Travel GPS; Never Get Lost In The wilderness
Have you heard about a travel GPS system? If you like hiking trips to the mountains and into the woods, then it might be something for you. You’ve probably heard stories about campers, mountain climbers or hikers that have been lost on their trips. This could probably have been avoided if these people had hiking GPS units with them. There are plenty of sites on the internet reviewing travel or hiking GPS, showing each models specific features and benefits.
Before you purchase a GPS tracking device you should figure out what kind of GPS you need for your outback activities.
The first thing to find out is whether the GPS unit’s map covers your travel area. If it doesn’t, it’s useless. On some of the travel or hiking GPS systems, you can download various maps and locations. A few models even offer downloads of topographical maps, a very convenient benefit if you travel in rugged wilderness. Simpler GPS units give you the basics only, such as longitude and latitude but you have to carry a printed map and determine the location yourself.
Weight and Seize
For traveling in the wilderness you need a GPS system that is simple to have with you, if not it’s simply useless. The most crucial features are size and weight. I recommend that you chose a travel GPS system that is light in weight and small enough to bring with you wherever you go. This requirement is absolute. Then you can chose models that also have the other features that you want.
Battery Life
The lifetime of the battery is also an important factor when choosing the right hiking GPS for your outdoor activities. If you are camping, using a R.V. or a generator and only like small hikes of an hour or two, the battery’s life if not that important. However, if you are out backing for several days, for example on a mountain climb, the life of the battery is crucial. You should look for a GPS with a battery life twice as long as you assess is necessary and everything should work fine. Although a long battery life is good, it has to be balanced with weight and size.
Some Other Features That’s Great To Have
Finally, consider which other non-critical features are important for you. It goes without saying that colored screens are easier to read than the simpler black & white ones. You can get a hiking GPS tracking device that are able to track your path. This makes it easy to know how far you have to go to reach your destination and last but not least to find your way back. Some hiking or travel GPS units have information on hunting or fishing cycles and Sun and Moon cycles available. When it comes to features more and more are added for each new model that is launched.

Navigating With Games Gps
The games GPS has for users range from traditional arcade and card games to interactive outdoor adventures and treasure hunts. Some games on GPS devices even combine art, filmmaking and social networking too!
This exciting niche market is just starting to evolve, with much advancement yet to be expected with GPS navigation system. They call this “geocaching” or sometimes “geodashing,” which has become one of the uses for GPS navigation systems that is a lot of fun.
GPS
At www.gpsgames.org, you can find some of the funniest games GPS has to put forward. For instance, “Shutter Spot” is a game where players take pictures and other players are challenged to find that exact location where the photographer was standing to take the shot.
“GeoPoker” takes the usual assembling of a card hand and adds a twist: players must first find and move a container holding a GeoPoker log to earn their virtual playing cards! “GeoGolf” has you moving from waypoint to waypoint to get your score. Then there is “Minute War,” which is like Capture the Flag, and other exciting, interactive navigator maps games like “Geodashing” and “Geocaching.”
If you have ever watched “The Amazing Race,” then you’ve got the concept of the increasingly popular Geocaching games GPS has to play. Teams or individuals will receive sets of coordinates and will race from waypoint to waypoint, performing different tasks at each location and competing for prizes.
In their ventures, seekers often find hidden containers with inexpensive toys, keepsakes or items and log books; they then replace the item with something new and record their name in the log. To find hosting in your area, check out www.geocaching.com to see if one of the 673,265 geocaches can be found near you.

Whether you like the Garmin GPSmap has created to date or not, this is just one more neat function of GPS navigation systems. The latest technological trends are in all-in-one multimedia devices that allow users to share information, create and upgrade. GPS is no exception!
